Question:
Can I use an electric blanket during early pregnancy?

Answer:

A recent study found the use an electic blanket at the time of conception or in early pregnancy increased the chance of miscarriage significantly. If you're cold, use extra blankets or turn up the heat, but it is probably best to avoid the use of electric blankets prior to or at any time during your pregnancy.

Most core body temperatures range from 97 to 98.8 degrees. There have been documented complications to pregnancy when a woman's core body temperature has been raised. Poor fetal outcomes have been implicated when the pregnant woman's core body temperature has been raised above normal, especially in the first trimester.
