Pregnancy Today's Advisor
Lorie Franks, Pediatrician

Lorie Franks
Pediatrician

" Like most women today, I have been struggling with the balance between advancing my career, and staying home with my children while they are young. Last year I began an extended leave of absence from medicine to be a stay at home mom. To be a good physician, I feel that you have to be able to give patients care that surpasses the time constraints of an typical business day. Therefore I felt that trying to continue working would not only shortchange my patients, but my family as well. I am very happy with my choice, and fortunate to be my daughters' primary care giver during their early years."
