Question: How do I know what size maternity clothing to buy?The common mistake in size selection is sizing up in anticipation of your larger body. Most manufacturers take the normal size range into account and size their maternity clothing according to your pre-pregnancy size (i.e., if you were a size 8 before your pregnancy, you would buy a size 8 maternity). They size the clothing to accommodate not only your larger belly, but expanded bust, arms and chest. Also, in skirts and dresses, the front hems are generally longer than the back of the garment to level the bottom once a larger belly is underneath, tugging it upwards.
