We’re bouncing along the rugged terrain, our four-wheel drive vehicle handling the shocks well. We propel past a lion and her cubs, chewing on a meaty bone. The sun beats down on us mercilessly as we glide past twin zebras grazing in tall grass. As we make a pit stop by a hippo standing knee-deep in murky water, we are thankful that our three children are safe in one place, riding together rather than separated into two transporters.
Sounds
like a trip to Africa? Perhaps. In reality, however, we’re spending a day at the zoo with our Peg
Perego Triplette stroller.
Finally, all three of our children can ride together in the same stroller! No more pushing two separate strollers, waiting for each other. Now, we take our adventures as a united family unit, the three kids enjoying the ride together, peering over each other’s shoulders and giggling.
CJ, the 4-year-old, rides in the "caboose," as he named the last of the three seats, because he is the tallest and can see over the tops of the other seats (and because he likes it!). We alternate 17-month-old twins Cassandra and Julianna in the front seat so each gets an unobstructed view from time to time. We stow our supplies under the seats on the rack.
We have to be careful when we turn the stroller, though. It weighs a considerable amount when filled and the wheels don’t pivot, so we must lift either the front or the back in order to round a corner or change direction. Once, I was lazy and tried to slide the stroller into a new direction and the wheel came off the rim. Luckily, I was able to put it back on!
We get lots of stares wherever we go with this stroller. People have stopped us in our tracks to say: "I’ve never seen a triple stroller before!" and "Are they triplets?" and "You have your hands full!" We're more than happy to give the details about this wonderful vehicle.
We take turns pushing the stroller. It’s lots of fun for parents and kids alike, especially when taking leisurely walks. In crowded places, like the mall on Saturday, it can be more difficult to navigate. But overall, I prefer this method of carting the kids around to any other method we have tried: two strollers, a stroller and a front-pack baby carrier, two baby carriers and a single stroller, a wagon and a stroller, etc. This simplifies our life, and with three kids ages 4 and younger, we’ll take all the help we can get!
