From conception to the eighth week of pregnancy, the baby growing inside you is called an embryo. The fertilized egg first forms a
blastocyst - a hollow sphere with two different types of cells and a central cavity. The surface cells (trophectoderm) will become the placenta, while the inner cells, called
(the inner cell mass) will become the embryo. The embryo moves into the uterus from the fallopian tubes about 80 hours after ovulation, and begins to implant in the uterus
about 72 hours after that.
